Nettie Cullen is a registered psychologist with twenty years experience in a variety of settings including public mental health services, educational institutions, non-governmental organisations and private practice. Having completed her undergraduate and masters degrees in Australia, she continued her post-graduate studies at Auckland University.
Nettie draws on a range of theoretical models in her work including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Neuropsychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural techniques, Solution-Focused and Family Systems therapies. One size does not necessarily fit all, however, and Nettie’s approach to therapy is to work closely with clients to develop a strategy that most effectively produces positive results, given each person’s unique circumstances. Nettie works not only to help fix what is ‘broken’, but also to focus on understanding the unique underlying dynamics experienced by individuals and to identify and nurture her clients’ particular capabilities and strengths. To do this it is essential to understand clients and support them in a whole-of-life way … emotionally, physically, spiritually, relationally and socially.
